Video | Top 10 funniest Curb Your Enthusiasm scenes

Share

Here is a very funny compilation of the Top 10 funniest “Curb Your Enthusiasm” scenes to hold over Larry David fans until/if a new season starts.

The plots and subplots of the episodes are established in an outline written by David and the dialogue is largely improvised by the actors themselves. Much like Seinfeld, the subject matter in Curb Your Enthusiasm often involves the minutiae of daily life, and plots often revolve around Larry David’s many faux pas, and his problems with certain social conventions and expectations, as well as his annoyance with other people’s behavior. The character has a hard time letting such annoyances go unexpressed, which leads him often into awkward situations.

Moody and ethereal video explores beauty in liquid form.

I don’t normally show commercials, but this epic, one-minute video created for Tribord, the French board sport company, is a valid exception to the rule. Produced by Fred & Farid Paris, the video offers proof that a powerful story can be told with strong visuals and a simple soundtrack.

Shot on location in Bali, “Back to Water” features a stunning woman diving, paddling and swimming in the sea, a lone figure in the ocean’s vast expanse.

Video | “Bicycle Sounds” features bikes as creative musical instruments

Share

Stephen Meierding’s entry into the “Bike Shorts” film competition features bikes as creative musical instruments.

From Brian Eno to Autechre, musicians have long used found objects to create sounds for songs. Hell, one of the greatest records of all time, the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, has a song (“You Still Believe In Me”) featuring bike bells and horns. But this we’ve never seen.

In “Bicycle Sounds,” a short film from photographer Stephen Meierding we watch and listen to an intricate arrangement of beats created using only moving bike parts. Okay, so maybe “music” isn’t the correct term here. But the film is totally mesmerizing. Definitely worth a watch.

Video | LUCK – a trifecta of great writing, acting & cinemtography makes this HBO series the best thing going by a long shot

Share

After getting blown away by the fourth episode, all I can say is–whoa what a show! Although the series can be confusing and wandering in the early episodes, if you give this nag a chance, she’s going to race into your heart.

hbo show luckEven though I never even liked horseracing, this drama, set in that world, has got me hooked and betting the farm. I was a little skeptical and sometimes confused in the early going. It’s tough juggling a big cast of characters, and there’s a lot of racing lingo to decipher, and the plot is almost non-existant.

But it all starts to come together in episode four with an especially stirring race that will send your heart racing and your eyes misting. My TV pal and fave reviewer, Alan Sepinwall (see my post about him here) tipped me off to the show and can describe it much better than I, so I’ll turn the show over to him…   Continue reading »

Ok Go, and arts group Syyn Labs, build the most stupendous and creative Rube Goldberg machine ever and synch its “performance” to a great song.

The band, OK Go, and an LA based arts and technology collective, Syyn Labs, collaborate and build the most gigantic and elaborate Rube Goldberg machine I’ve ever seen or imagined. This is quite a fascinating and visually arresting music video.

The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs over the course of several months.
