Podcasts | Adam Carolla Show-the iTunes top ranked comedy

Share

The Adam Carolla Show is the top ranked comedy podcast and Guinness World Records holder for the most downloaded podcast ever. Adam shares his thoughts on current events, interviews celebrities and rants about whatever’s bugging him today. Which is usually plenty.

The Adam Carolla Show is one of the podcasts I’ve listened to for years, although I usually only listen when he interviews a comedian or celeb I enjoy. He can be a ranting handful and an annoyance to my more pc correct friends, but he’s usually entertaining and quite funny when his rant-machine is racing and firing on all cylinders.

I recommend trying any of his podcast episodes that contain any of these recurring guests: Larry Miller, David Alan Grier, Dana Gould, Greg Fitzsimmons. You can read my post about Gould’s podcast here.

Here’s a good article about the podcast empire Carolla is building…

Three Lessons From Adam Carolla In Building A Podcast Empire

By Michael Wolf

As a longtime fan of Adam Carolla’s, I was both relieved and excited in February of 2009 when the comedian announced he would launch a podcast.

Relieved because, like many, I enjoyed the comedian’s hilarious rants about pretty much everything under the sun, and the recent cancellation of his syndicated radio show meant that I wouldn’t be hearing him on air anytime soon.

Excited because I thought it could mean something big for the podcast market. After all, while podcasts had grown steadily since the term was coined in 2004, they hadn’t quite fulfilled their early hype for a variety of reasons, and I thought Carolla’s entry could possibly bring more listeners to the medium.

Podcasts | Dana Gould Hour – creative and funny comedian podcast

Share

I’ve listened to plenty of podcasts by comedians and the “Dana Gould Hour” is the funniest, most creative and the best produced one out there.

I’ve enjoyed Dana Gould as a standup comedian for a long time, going back over 20 years when I lived in San Francisco and witnessed several of his shows. His routines were a fine mix of silliness and intelligence. Although I didn’t realize it until I started doing research for this post, it turns out I’ve also enjoyed his writing for years. He has written many episodes for “The Simpsons”.

The Dana Gould Comedy Hour – By Sam Webb

Dana Gould was and remains one of the leading lights of the ‘alternative comedy movement.’ And finally, having calmly and stoically assessed the scene, finally launched his own podcast back in February and praise be, as he emboldens the standard podcast format, hosting a show bristling with ideas, strange stories of yore and two men from Boston. Each episode lasts around about an hour, is broadcast fortnightly and brings with it mirth and brightness to spare.

The bedrock of each show follows the familiar podcast trope of ‘three white guys talkin’ but brings with it a vibrancy, elegance and intelligence that really sets it apart from competitors. This is as much down to the individual and collaborative skills of the guest collective, so far including such luminaries as Eddie Pepitone and Matt Weinhold, as it is to the topics they discuss, which are as inviting as they are expansive.  Continue reading »
